How The Maritimes Can Prepare For Coronavirus from a Nurses’ Perspective

I am a Licensed Practical nurse.

I’d have to say one concern I have is healthcare provider burn out and how do we keep the ratio of nurses/Dr/CCA to patient care as it should be, if staff get sick as well. How will this effect the care for our patients not just in hospitals but one being cared for in there homes.

How people can help is, wash your hands, cough in your arm, try and practice social distance as much as possible, practice all the suggestions we’re being asked to do. Don’t panic (haha) but just use your common sense. And no trips! People are being asked to follow certain precautions so it can be contained. It’s that simple. We all have to do our part.

I seen a comment on Facebook from a retired nurse saying if they would reinstate her license she would come out of retirement to help. I thought wow, you never lose that drive to help, once a nurse always a nurse (lol). If it came to a point and people were struggling I’d like to think we’d do what ever had to be done to get through and make sure people were getting the best care possible, even calling out to our amazing retirees. I’m sure it won’t have to come to that.
